Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson Share Details on 'The Curse of Bridge Hollow' and Their Favorite Halloween Movies
Marlon Wayans is adding another must-see Halloween film to your family library as he stars in the new Netflix film The Curse Of Bridge Hollow alongside Stranger Things star Priah Ferguson and Kelly Rowland.
The film stars Wayans as a science teacher who moves with his wife (Rowland) and teenage daughter, Sydney (Ferguson), and is very skeptical about his teenage daughter celebrating Halloween. Once Sydney accidentally releases an ancient and mischievous spirit on Halloween, she must team up with her father to lock the spirit away forever to save the town.
In a fun conversation with BET.com, Wayans and Ferguson discuss their favorite Halloween movies, their favorite part about the holiday, and their guilty pleasure festival food.
When asked about their favorite Halloween film they wish they were a part of, Wayans says The Goonies, with Ferguson sharing how she adores the Child’s Play series, even going as far as to call the killer doll “cute.”
“I thought Chucky was so adorable,” the actress says.
“He’s so cute, and while his crimes are not nice, it’s his face when he scrunches his nose which is so cute.”
As we continued in conversation, the Wayans Bros. alumni shares that while Halloween wasn’t celebrated growing up due to his father being a Jehovah’s Witness, he began to participate in celebrating Halloween as an adult and told us his favorite costume.
“I think my favorite and my nephew dressed up one year — I like costumes where people wonder who you are,” he began.
“One year, I dressed up as Sam Jackson from Pulp Fiction, and they asked my nephew who he was. He was wearing a Kangol hat and said he’s Samuel L. Jackson in real life.”
Ferguson may be “obsessed” with the “stranger things” in life, but she also loves every holiday, including Halloween.
“I’m into every holiday because I like the spirit of it all and how it brings people together,” she expressed.
“My favorite part — I would say how everyone around the world is doing the same thing at the same time. It brings people together.”
The best part about Halloween, especially if there’s a festival celebrating the holiday, is the food. In the film, there’s a festival held called the Stingy Jack Festival and there’s a slew of desserts available. When asked about their favorite desserts at a festival, Wayans shares how he loves to munch on pork ribs, pumpkin spice lattes with a shot of vanilla, and pumpkin pies as his food of choice.
For Ferguson, she’s eating Mexican corn sprinkled with cheese on top and a nice turkey leg.
Grab your favorite festival foods and make sure you stream The Curse Of Bridge Hollow on Netflix this Friday (October 14th).
