As far as lyricists go, few can strike fear in the hearts of opponents like prodigious East Coaster Termanology.

When he came out with "Watch How It Go Down" in 2006, fans were abuzz with high hopes for the Boston-born rhymer to be the next big thing in hip hop. Though he didn't blow up commercially, the 30-year-old still receives critical acclaim for his ability to "talk greasy" on his albums and Hood Politics mixtapes.

His latest in the series, Hood Politics 7, has Termanology hooking up with his usual go-to track-makers, like partner-in-rhyme Ea$y Money and producer Statik Selektah.

Term and Selektah pick up right where they left off on their collaborative album, 2010's 1982, showing off the chemistry that originally brought them together. They linked up on seven tracks this time around, including standouts "Situations," "Up Every Night," which also features impressive guest verses from Kid Ink and Cory Gunz, and "Something Special."

Other high points include the mini Wu Tang reunion "Men of Respect" (Method Man, Raekwon, Cappadonna appear), "Brugal Pills" – which is reminiscent of Mobb Deep's signature gritty tales – and "The Block Iz on Fire," on which Termanology shows versatility, spitting effortlessly over a notably southern sounding Push Keys track.

Nitty Scott also makes her presence felt with a scorching feature on "Bars 4 Days."

"Champagne Money's" hook singer, Novel, rounds out the hip hop experience, proving that whether or not Termanology ever finds his way onto pop radio, he will continue to make a good living being a MC among rappers.

Overall, Hood Politics reaffirms what fans already know and either love or hate about Termanology: Glimpses of mainstream potential, cunning lyricism and jaw-dropping wordplay.
