Eddie Murphy’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Sequel Gets New Title, Adds Taylour Paige To Cast
Eddie Murphy’s highly-anticipated Beverly Hills Cop sequel has finally received its official title. The Netflix-helmed project will be called Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, a nod to Murphy’s character Axel Foley.
According to Deadline, Murphy will produce the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, with Will Beall behind the script.
Taylour Paige, mostly known for her breakout role in the A24 movie Zola, has also been added to the cast.
“GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,” Paige captioned her Instagram post confirming the news.
The Beverly Hills Cop franchise follows the wild adventures of Detroit police officer Foley. The first film premiered in 1984, where viewers watched Foley solve the murder of a friend in Beverly Hills. Two additional sequels came soon after, in 1987, Beverly Hills Cop II, and in 1994, Beverly Hills Cop III.
Charisse Hewitt-Webster and Ray Angelic are set to executive produce the upcoming movie. Melissa Reid of Jerry Bruckheimer Films will co-produce.
A premiere date of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley has yet to be announced.
