Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney officially entered the 2012 presidential race with an attack on President Obama, who he says has failed the nation and made the economy worse.

Mitt Romney officially launched his second bid to become the Republican Party’s presidential nominee from his family farm in New Hampshire. During his remarks he sharply attack President Obama’s handling of the economy and what GOP lawmakers like to refer to as ObamaCare, which Democrats love to say is reminiscent of RomneyCare.

“We gave someone new a chance to lead the country. Someone we hadn’t known for very long; someone who didn’t have a long record, but someone who promised to lead us to a better place. At the time we didn’t know what kind of president he’d make. It was a time of crisis for our economy and when Barack Obama came to office we wished him well and hoped for the best,” he said. “Now, in the third year of his four-year term, we have more than promises and slogans to judge him by. Barack Obama has failed America.”

Democrats have been firing at Romney all week, and the New Hampshire Democratic Party is selling a “Two Sides of Mitt Romney” t-shirt to highlight what they say is a habit of changing positions to suit his audience.

“Romney is going to announce his run for president today but he’s going into this campaign with the same fatal flaws that doomed him the first time around,” said Brad Woodhouse, a DNC spokesman. “That he’s seen as a wishy-washy, flip-flopping politician who lacks any core convictions or principles and who you simply can’t trust to shoot straight with you.”

Romney also touted his track record of creating jobs as a businessman and while governor of Massachusetts, but during his tenure, the U.S. Labor Department ranked the state 47 out of 50.
