After the Release of '4:44,' Jay-Z Is Not Finished With Us Yet
Friday (July 7) will make one entire week since fans grabbed hold of hip-hop gold from Roc Nation ruler and New York rap mogul Jay-Z.
Now that the album has hit platinum status just under a week after its release, it’s only right that he drop the remaining tracks on us, which we’re excited to discover he’ll be doing when the physical copies hit stores on Friday, too.
Revealed by Universal Music on Thursday (July 6), the previous 10-song track list on Hov’s thirteenth project has now stretched to 13, with one track featuring British R&B talent James Blake.
And remember that “Adnis” song he slipped us a quick sneak peek of before the album’s release? Don’t think Hov forgot about that one, as the track — for which Mahershala Ali gives a visual assist, is listed at No. 11 on the updated track list. Following the single comes another that we’re sure has built up a significant amount of anticipation by now, “Blue’s Freestyle/ We Family.” Five-year-old firstborn daughter (and new big sister) of the Carter family Blue Ivy Carter is certain to make her vocal debut on her dad’s opus after gracing her mom Beyoncé's album just four years ago.
Lastly, Blake’s assist comes in on “ManyFacedGod” and concludes the 13 tracks of 4:44. The revised track list isn’t so much of a shocker, however, after No I.D. revealed on that same day the album dropped that we should be expecting three new songs. In the Chicago-bred executive producer’s Rolling Stone interview, he shared the news of Blake’s appearance on the project as well.
Hov never ceases to surprise us, anyway.
