2022 NAACP Image Awards: 5 Things to Know Presenter Tabitha Brown
It may seem like Tabitha Brown became an overnight sensation, but the journey from our hearts and to our television has not been a short or easy path. However, Brown’s journey to Hollywood was a 12-year trip that included small victories, a return flight home, and a sassy catchphrase.
Following the suggestion of her equally loved daughter, model and, influencer Chance Brown, the NAACP Image Awards 2021 “Outstanding Social Media Personality” joined the world of TikTok. As they say, that rest was history.
The Chi actress and now a presenter at the 53rd annual NAACP Image Awards is taking Hollywood by storm one gig at a time. Ahead of what’s expected to be a night dedicated to celebrating Black excellence, here are five things you should know about this year’s presenter.
She’s vegan
Many of Brown’s supporters may know her from one of her many viral moments in which she shares some of her favorite dishes. In 2018, so pleased by the vegan sandwich she ordered at a local Whole Foods, she purchased a second and decided to review it. The video was an instant hit and garnered her several deals and opportunities, including a partnership with the grocery store.
She’s also known as “America’s Mom”
Part of Brown’s popularity may be due to her warm and down-to-earth nature and calming voice. Last July 2021, Brown was applauded for delivering one of the most graceful yet epic clapbacks ever after daytime talk show host Wendy Williams commented on her marriage to Chance Brown. In 2020, Huffington Post dubbed the star “America’s Mom.”
She stars in an award-winning show
In May 2021, Brown revealed to fans that she was joining the cast of The Chi. The actress play Octavia, a successful interior designer unable to conceive a child of her own who seeks to adopt the child of Keisha, played by Birgundi Baker.

She’s an NAACP Award Winner
During the 52nd NAACP Image Awards, Brown won the trophy for “Oustanding Social Media Personality,” beating out comedians Kevin Fredericks (known as “KevOnStage”) and Karlton “NotKarltonBanks” Humes, actor Desi Banks Jr., and financial educator Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche.
Her products sell out in record time
On July 8, Brown partnered up with spice brand McCormick and launched her limited-edition Sunshine All-Purpose Seasoning. The salt-free spice blend sold out in 39 minutes.
