When pop megastar and music icon Janet Jackson took a tearfully emotional moment onstage during her newly embarked State Of The World Tour, speculation of a struggle with her heavily publicized divorce rose even higher.

Despite confirming that the separation was underway, Janet has still kept details on the split from her husband, Wissam Al Mana, hushed as she continues her dangerously anticipated global tour. The Jackson 5 veteran and Janet’s big brother Randy Jackson, however, is revealing what we witnessed from Janet’s relationship, and the details are alarming.

In an exclusive People interview, Randy described the marriage with one simple, yet poignant, word: pain. He expressed that Janet has “been through a lot” with the divorce, which is an experience rooted deeply in what he deemed a toxic relationship between her and Al Mana.

“It was quite an abusive situation,” Randy reportedly told People. “It came on later in the relationship, verbal abuse and being [made to feel like] a prisoner in her own home. No pregnant woman needs to go through being called a b**ch every day. There were things like that. That’s what she went through.”

He clarified that there was no physical abuse, but the emotional toll it took on his younger sister was enough to remain by her side. Along with being one of her closest siblings as the second-to-last of the Jackson children, the site reports that Randy also lives in close proximity to the London home that Janet and her husband lived in together. It would make sense, then, that he demanded Janet to stay with him amid the split, which is exactly what he claimed happened after learning of their deteriorating marriage.

“I told her, ‘You’ve got to move in with me or I’m going to go over there and there’s going to be hell,’” he said to People. “She was really pissed off. I told her, ‘I don’t care anymore. I’m tired of it. It’s too much.”

Randy admitted that though he was gravely concerned with Janet, he kept the private information about her marriage from the rest of their relatives — especially Katherine and Joe Jackson, the Jackson family parents — to protect them. Now, he reportedly said,  “everybody in the family knows.”

People added that a statement from Al Mana’s legal team rejected Randy’s claims, stating that the Qatari billionaire would not respond to “these particular and deeply hurtful allegations” either. Still, Randy’s sole priority is protecting his younger sister, he said. As for Al Mana, he believes that his personal issues played the major role in their split and should seek help for them.

“I have a lot of Muslim friends and they don’t act that way at all,” Randy reportedly said. “It’s a personal issue that he needs help with and I’m going to pray for him, too. But I’m not going to allow her to live in that abusive situation. She’s my baby sister.”

Janet’s current status is pretty touchy, according to Randy, who also said that the aforementioned emotional breakdown she had while preforming the tender 1997 hit “What About” wasn’t the first time it’s happened. And unfortunately, he added, “the abuse is still going on” now that the two are working out co-parenting arrangements for their 8-month-old son, Eissa.

“She has custody and he of course allowed her to bring the baby on tour, but it’s constant harassment,” Randy said. “This tour almost didn’t happen, but by the grace of God we’re here and we’re very prayerful.”
