Flipp Dinero Talks New Music, Crushing On Rihanna And Why He’d Rather Catch A Vibe Than Ride A Beat For 106 & Park Mic Check
“I was about the age of eight or nine when I really wrote my first song, and it was just about motivation. I was talking about getting money. That was my first song,” Flipp Dinero recalled. As for a testament to his will, one has to look no further than the 24-year-old’s steady ascent up rap’s ranks after first making waves with his 2018 smash hit, Leave Me Alone, which peaked at No. 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
While the Brooklyn rapper still hasn’t had that one breakthrough moment on a mainstream level, Flipp Dinero has been raising his profile with a steady string of singles and racking up features from some impressive names, including having his “big bro” DJ Khaled in his corner. Back in November, Flipp Dinero dropped off his debut album, Love For Guala, and the 24-year-old is already plotting his next steps.
In May, he signaled his next era is imminent with the release of his newest and first single of 2020, “Jump Off.” Later that month, DJ Khaled teased the two with something in the bag together after he previewed an unreleased snippet of Flipp Dinero rapping on his Instagram page. While the rapper didn’t let slip any details beyonce “new music is on the way,” Flipp Dinero already has one potential collaborator in mind.
“I wanna work with Kash Doll. I like Kash Doll a lot. I’m a big fan. I really like the wave she got going on,” he said.
BET Digital got the rapper in the hot seat to answer a handful of his fan-generated questions for the latest episode of 106&Park Mic Check. Flipp Dinero shared the craziest fan interaction that's ever happened to him, his dream list of collaborators, how he squashed self-doubt, being inspired by Bob Marley and why he’d rather to catch a vibe than a ride beat.
