2022 NAACP Image Awards: 5 of the Most Explosive Performances Featured On This Year's Nominee ‘The Voice’

‘The Voice’ was nominated in the 'Outstanding Reality Program, Reality-Competition or Game Show (Series)' category.

Some of the biggest names in the music business got their start on a musical competition show including, Jennifer Hudson, Kimberly Nichole, and more. The Voice's unique blindfold auditions made it a standout show from other reality series including American Idol and America’s Got Talent.

At the 53rd Annual NAACP Image Awards, The Voice was nominated in the “Outstanding Reality Program, Reality-Competition or Game Show (Series)” category alongside shows like Iyanla: Fix My Life, Wild ’n Out, and more. Although it didn't win, check out five of the most explosive performance featured on The Voice.

  • LB Crew –"Waves"

    On Season 16 of the popular musical competition show, singer LB Crew managed to wow judges Blake Sheldon and Kelly Clarkson just seconds after beginning to give what went on to give a soulful rendition of Mr. Probz’s “Waves” during his blind auditions. The track grew in popularity following Robin Schulz’s radio remix.

  • Janice Freeman – “I’m Goin Down”

    In 2017, show favorite Janice Freeman gave a powerful performance of Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down” during the series’ “Knockout” segment, that had judges Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus jumping out of their seats in amazement.

  • Chris Blue – “Take Me to the King”

    During the season 12 Semifinal, Chris Blue added one more unforgettable performance to his repertoire. Known for being a high-energy performer, using the stage as his playground,  Blue pleasantly surprised viewers and judges when he stripped himself of his signature stylings for a riveting performance of “Take Me to the King.” Blue’s hard work ultimately won him the winning title for that season.

  • Kimberly Nichole – “Creep”

    Judge Blake described Kimberly Nicole’s rendition of Radiohead’s 1992 classic record “Creep” as perfect and that it was from the candelabra-packed stage, her gorgeous gown and captivating vocal abilities it’s hard to imagine the singer was eliminated just one week after giving one of the best The Voice performances ever.

  • Tessanne Chin – “I Have Nothing”

    If critics ever needed a reason why singer Tesanne Cin won the season she appeared on the series, then look no further than the season 5 finale. The seasoned artist gave a dazzling performance of one of the hardest to sing, Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”
