Conor McGregor Really Just Called Himself 'The New God Of Boxing'

"I feel I am superior to Floyd."

So, let's get this straight — Conor McGregor touts a 21-3 record (including 18 knockouts) in the UFC, but has never fought in a professional boxing match. That and his opponent, Floyd Mayweather Jr., is regarded as the best boxer of this generation with a flawless 49-0 record. Yet, McGregor has the gall to call himself "the new god of boxing."

Seriously? Call it a case of being supremely confident or insanely delusional, but that's the title that the MMA superstar gave himself during the grand arrivals event at the Toshiba Plaza in Las Vegas yesterday, ahead of the Mayweather-McGregor mega bout on Saturday night.

"Floyd can talk about whatever he wants to talk about," McGregor began saying. "He can talk any kind of trash he wants, because he's talking to the new god of boxing."

And McGregor kept the ridiculously overconfident braggadocio going with more of his comments during the event, once again vowing to knock Mayweather out early.

"If you look at the way I fight, I am a fast starter. I come out and bang people right away," said McGregor, 29. "With eight ounce gloves, I don't see him lasting more than one or two rounds."

He added: "I am my own man and I feel I am superior to Floyd. When it comes to Saturday night, he will not be prepared for me."

Days away from the fight, Mayweather, 40, isn't fazed by his younger, inexperienced opponent's remarks whatsoever, vowing that this super fight "is not going the distance."

"McGregor is a tough competitor. He's undefeated standing up. He's never lost when striking. I know that I'm in for a tough fight," Mayweather said. "But there is one thing I do know, this fight is not going the distance. No matter what anyone says, it's not going the distance."

How do you see this fight going?
