World Famous Ducks Team Up With Nike, Otis Day for 'Shout'
Though the University of Oregon Ducks were bested by the Spartans this weekend (31-28), the team has a not-so-secret weapon in the cannon for their next game.
Nike, Otis Day and the Knights, and a slew of world-renowned Ducks teamed up for a new spirit-lifting short film, Shout, inspired by the famed toga party scene in Animal House.
The company's relationship with the university dates back four decades, when Nike founders Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman were students there. The campus is also where the original, quintessential 70s college film was shot.
Now, Nike brings these landmarks of Americana together for their new quick flick, replacing the actors with notable alumni like Pro Bowler Ahmad Rashad, Kenny "The Pick" Wheaton, Eagles RB Kenjon Barner, track stars English Gardener and Ashton Eaton, ESPN anchor Neil Everett, and actor Ty Burrell (of Modern Family).
Otis Day and the Knights, the band that was formed specifically to perform the Isley Brothers song, "Shout" in Animal House, return to lipsynch the soundtrack.
It's collegiate fraternization at its best.
Historically, the song plays between the third and fourth quarters of every Ducks home game. Since the video's release, however, the Autzen stadium crew has agreed to make tradition of running the new clip.
The Ducks face Georgia State next, concluding their nonconference season in Oregon on Saturday (Sept. 19).
