Chief Keef Joins Gucci Mane at Brick Squad
The stamps keep rolling in for Chief Keef and it looks like Guwop is going to be the one to help him bank it all.
After getting a name check from Jay-Z, recording with Kanye in Paris and having living legend George Clinton compare his "I Don't Like" to Funkadelic's music — and this is just in the last month or so — Chief Keef got the official Internet nod from Gucci Mane earlier today (May 8).
"Chief Keef newest member of Brickquad 1017 bmg gbe mpa #turnup," Gooch wrote before retweeting a series of messages from approving fans.
Then, around 5 p.m. this evening, BigGucciSosa300 confirmed. "#WhatTimeIsIt? 1017," he tweeted.
While the details of their partnership have yet to be made public, it is likely a promotional one. Sosa reportedly signed a $6 million, three album label deal with Interscope last year. Apparently, he has until December 2013 to sell 250,000 copies of his debut, Finally Rich, or Interscope has the option to terminate. As of the end of the first quarter of this year, he's moved 152,000.
As for Brick Squad, this announcement comes after a recent fallout between Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame. Waka insists the business ties are strong, though, and that he will always rep the label/crew.
