Kendrick Lamar Praises Colin Kaepernick on Mary J. Blige's '41 Shots'

Their take on this classic Bruce Springsteen track is amazing.

Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige today (October 21) release their new collaborative track, "American Skin (41 Shots)," and it's already being met with a positive reception from fans and critics alike.

Last month, a clip of Blige singing Bruce Springsteen's classic hit single to Hillary Clinton made its rounds online, with the R&B veteran later explaining how much the song means to her, and why she chose to sing to the Democratic candidate during their formal interview.

While social media didn't react kindly to Blige, today those fans should be biting their tongues, as the clip last month ended up being foreshadowing to her collaboration with the Compton rapper.

During the song, Lamar shows love to Colin Kaepernick while eloquently addressing the ghastly problems plaguing our country, such as police brutality and racial tension.

“Gun admitted, he bear arm/The entity, arm and leg and head made to destroy/80 percent of the victim was yours/Maybe I get to relive years of war/Look on the corner, we been here before/Look at the momma, you seen tears before/Pain bright and early/Rain, sleet, hail, snow, worry/More storm barricade the city/Prosecution, unhung jury/These days murder keep ’em busy/Sweet blood flowed on the gurney/Yellow tape tied around the street/Colin Kaepernick was more than worthy,” Lamar raps during his guest appearance on the track.

Yup. You might need to run that one back, as this is already being praised as one of Lamar's most powerful verses.
