Suge Knight Says He Doesn’t Care Who Shot Him

“I don’t think it’s really important,” explains former music exec.

The identity of his shooter is something Suge Knight just isn’t concerned with, according to a TMZ Live interview Tuesday (Sept. 2). Knight is recovering since he was shot six times during a Chris Brown MTV Video Music awards pre-party at 1OAK nightclub in West Hollywood, Calif., last month.

When asked if he saw who shot him, the 49-year-old wasn’t preoccupied with details of the kind. “Even if I did, I don’t think that’s really important,” he said. “I’m doing extremely well. I’m happy to be doing well and whatever happens, happens.”

After the shooting, Knight walked right out of the club and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital where he underwent surgery before being released. Now that he’s home, Knight opened up about where he found the strength to physically push forward. “One thing my father always told me, no matter what it is, 'you never give up, you never quit,'” explained Knight. "'You never quit, if you start something or you walk in a place somewhere. You walk in one way, no matter what goes on, you leave the same way as a man.' I was shot and I think it was important that I wanted to walk and make sure I get to the right place to patch some of these holes up.”

The Death Row Records co-founder continued with his positive outlook in answering just about every question TMZ threw out. Knight laughed about not feeling "a thing” when he was shot, and joked that he thought the hospital was heaven. “I had never seen so many beautiful nice doctors and nice nurses in the world,” quipped the Compton native.

As for what he’s learned from the incident, Knight sees the shooting as another chapter in the book of life. “It’s gonna be some times when you might get in a few bar fights," said Knight. "It’s gonna be some times when you might get a few shots, and if you’re able to survive those shots, you’re supposed to make yourself stronger and be more positive and more aggressive of the people you wanna deal with, and that’s the page I’m really on.”

That positive outlook could be from experience, being that he’s been in the same predicament before. Knight was shot in 2005 during an MTV VMAs party hosted by Kanye West.
