Erica Banks Says She 'Loves Skinny Women' After Receiving Social Media Backlash
Erica Banks is going viral again. The last time it was for her sensational hit “Buss It.” This time it’s for her personal checklist of physical requirements needed to club with her.
In a recent Instagram Live video, Banks explained, “If she don't look how I want her to look physically, I don't want her to come because the look of everything is so important to me. Like, if she ain't thick enough... Nope!”
The artist continued, “Hair not did good enough. Nope! Can't dress.. Nope! Ahh, skinny... Nope!”
In the video, Banks expressed she doesn’t feel like she’s discriminating because she just “wants a certain type of look.”
Within hours, the internet exploded with negative thoughts about the video. So much so that “Erica Banks” was trending on Twitter.
With the backlash she received, Banks took to Twitter with the following response: “Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion & I’ve never been one to convince people of liking mine. My preference of who I club with when it comes to my brand has nothing to do with y’all. Y’all never liked me anyway so why would I care about what y’all think about anything I say?"
The last tweet from the Texas rapper attempted to show love to those she may have offended. She posted, “Lastly, I love my skinny/smaller women with a passion. Let’s not get it misconstrued. However, when I go to the CLUB, I want thick bitches shakin ass everywhere! That’s my vibe. There are even skinny women in my music videos, most hand picked by me, so stop it.”
Despite all the drama, we hope that everyone knows that all bodies matter and body positivity is essential to the culture.
