Tragic New Details Emerge In 'Deadpool 2' Stuntwoman's Fatal Crash
A stuntwoman on the set of the upcoming action flick Deadpool 2 was killed while filming a motorcycle stunt, and with days passing since the incident, new details have emerged on what could have contributed to her fate.
According to Page Six, Joi "SJ" Harris, who was serving as the stunt double for the character Domino, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal crash. The site also reports, however, that there was not enough time to get one specially made for her.
For those unfamiliar with what happened, Harris, 40, died while filming a motorcycle stunt when she lost control of the bike and crashed into the windows of a building.
The fatal crash occurred in Harris's early stages of filming as she had just signed onto the film after replacing another stunt double for the character.
Despite the stunt double before her having worn a helmet under her wig, Harris was not wearing one at the time of the crash. She reportedly was not wearing one due to the short notice of her being on set. This was her first film as a stunt rider.
Filming for the highly anticipated Marvel film resumed in Vancouver two days after her death.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Harris's friends and family during this time.
