Tyla Becomes First Artist to Win New African Music Performance Category
'I always dreamed of this," the singer said.
South African singer Tyla made history at the 66th Annual Grammys by winning the Recording Academy's newest category, "Best African Music Performance," for her song "Water."
In her speech, she said, “What the heck?!,” as she took the stage. “I never thought I’d say I won a Grammy at 22 […] Last year, God decided to change my whole life, so thank you so much to God.”
Tyla rose to fame over the summer with her ear-worm of a song, and next month she will release her first album.
