Justin Bieber Talks Christmas and Giving Back

The mega-star remembers not having much growing up.

When it comes to Justin Bieber, it can be difficult to remember the 17-year-old Ontario native was discovered in 2008 and has been in the limelight for only two years.

Molded by Usher and signed by L.A. Reid, Bieber wants his Nov. 1 Christmas album Under the Mistletoe to do more than make merry music. By the time his next studio project drops in 2012, he hopes fans will help him raise millions for charities like City of Hope and the Boys & Girls Club.

In Billboard’s cover story, the Bieb says, "I remember growing up not having a lot, especially around Christmastime. We had to get stuff from the food bank.... I want every one of my fans to feel like they're helping out the world in some way. And being the one to influence them to do that, that's something positive I can do with what God's given me."

A portion of proceeds from Mistletoe will go to various charities with the help of his Believe Charity Drive.

As fans await his sophomore effort, Billboard writes listeners will notice a major shift in the 17-year-old’s sound. His manager Scooter Braun agrees, saying, "Vocally, his balls have dropped.”

With more bass in his voice, it’ll be interesting to see how Bieberites react.
