Empire Is Adding Some Female Hip Hop Flare to Season Two
Empire die-hards, get ready to welcome a new character into your homes! TV Line has learned that the show is doing a casting call for a "moody, outspoken, and unapologetically butch" female rapper to join the scene.
According to the leaked plot line for season two of the hit series, the femcee's name is Betty Barz and she hails from Brownsville, Brooklyn. Don't expect any frilly bars from this rapper. The character description states that she's won "more rhyme battles and girls' hearts than the best male vets on her block." It looks like Hakeem has some tough competition on the horizon.
Keep in mind that though the description explains that she's won "girls' hearts," this does not mean that she will be lesbian or an LGBT-identifying character on the show.
While her skills as a rapper may push her to stardom, they may also serve as her downfall. According to the description, Barz's deal with Empire Entertainment won't guarantee her success, as her "deep fears push her toward self-sabotage." Adding more to the already juicy story, the only person who can steer her back on the right path is her incarcerated drug kingpin father, "Pops."
Salivating yet? Season two of Empire premieres September 23 on FOX.
