Cardi B showed off her long natural locks this week on social media. The rap star has been sharing her hair journey with fans for years; however, this week, her waist-length locks got social media in a tizzy.

Some responded to the 35-year-old star, saying that she is a Latina woman whose hair texture may differ from some of her fans. However, one fan pointed out that she is Afro-Latina.

However, Cardi shared that she makes her own hair oil and even uses old-school treatments like washing her hair with onions to achieve strong locks.

The social media uproar prompted Cardi to share photos of herself as a child.

In August 2022. Cardi gave fans a glimpse into her hair secrets on TikTok saying, “I’ve been using a secret vegetable water on my hair," she added, “Can you guess which vegetable it is? Here’s a clue, I did a tutorial on it about six years ago.”

In a now-deleted post, Cardi shared that she uses hair treatments that other groups have commonly used.  “I’m gonna put in mayonnaise, castor oil, and olive oil too,” she said at the time, explaining that she uses the concoction on her 5-year-old daughter Kulture’s hair. “I know it’s a lot of oil but my baby girl’s hair gotta be really hydrated like mine — and I’m about to put egg and honey in too.”

Cardi — whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar — was born in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. Her father is Dominican and her mother is from Trinidad.

“It’s a good hair mask to help your hair grow,” Cardi said. “All the good things that you put in your body, you gotta put in your hair.”

And it seems like many of her fans agree with one social media user writing on Twitter, "i want cardi b to take care of my hair."
