Sesame Street Hires Temporary Replacement for Kevin Clash
Sesame Street is trying to move on from the scandal that cost them the voice of their most beloved character, Elmo.
Actor Kevin Clash was allegedly fired from the popular kids show after allegations emerged that he had sexual relations with several men when they were minors. He continues to refute the charges.
Meanwhile, the PBS show is working hard to find a replacement. TMZ reports a temporary voice of Elmo entertained the kids at the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday. Curiously, TMZ's reporters couldn't figure out if the actor was male or female — not that it matters when it comes to voicing an androgynous puppet.
While the new voice of Elmo did a great job on the character's signature high-pitched squeal, reps for Sesame Street insist that they haven't yet offered the actor a permanent position. "No decision has been made on a permanent replacement as yet," says the Sesame Workshop rep.
