Aaliyah Joins Barbie's Music Series with a Stunning Doll
Aaliyah has officially joined the ranks of Barbie legends.
On what would have been her 46th birthday, Mattel released the highly anticipated Aaliyah Barbie as part of its Music Series.
The “More Than A Woman” hitmaker’s doll channels her signature style with a sleek black ensemble, low-slung pants, and staple black sunglasses, seamlessly capturing the cool sophistication that made her a fashion and music trailblazer.
Retailing for $64.99, the doll includes a one-year membership to Barbie Club 59, offering exclusive perks to collectors. Fans wasted no time, selling out the toy in just 30 minutes, The Detroit News reported.
“Our Aaliyah doll honors the life and sound of the chart-topping, record-breaking American musician affectionately known as ‘Babygirl,’” reads the doll's description on Mattel’s website.
Designed by Carlyle Nuera, the collectible comes with a certificate of authenticity and is part of a celebrated line that includes Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan, and Stevie Nicks.
For years, Aaliyah’s devoted fans longed for her music, as much of her catalog—including albums like “One in a Million” and “Aaliyah”—was locked away in licensing disputes and unavailable on streaming platforms.
That long wait finally ended in 2021 when her music was released on streaming platforms, offering fans a new way to celebrate the life and artistry of a star gone too soon.
Although it sold out on MattelCreations.com, fans may still have a chance to find the doll at select Target locations or on Target’s website.
