Jada Pinkett Smith Celebrates Mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris' 70th Birthday
This week, actress and author Jada Pinkett Smith commemorated her mom, Adrienne Banfield-Norri's birthday.
The former Red Table Talk co-host celebrated her 70th birthday and, Pinkett Smith, shared a series of photos on Instagram, featuring Will Smith, and her grandchildren Jaden (25) and Willow (22), and Will's son Trey (30).
Banfield-Norris delivered a speech while her two-tier red-and-gold birthday cake served as the perfect backdrop. The attendees are seen applauding as more moments are captured.
The “Set It Off” actress’s caption read, “Gammy turned 70 years young yesterday!!! Gam Bam you look 30! We are going to celebrate all year! I love you!!! Happy Birthday again!😘♥️ @gammynorris."
Pinkett Smith and her mother have a close and open relationship, often discussed on their now-cancelled show "Red Table Talk." It was co-hosted by Jada, her daughter, Willow, and her mother, and provided a platform for the three generations of women to have candid conversations about various topics, including relationships, family dynamics, personal challenges, and societal issues.
People reported that the actress's mother, a former nurse, has also stepped in to help with work situations. "When Jada starred in the medical drama HawthoRNe, her mother took issue with how medical practices were portrayed on the show — and the medical advisory team changed as a result."
Pinkett-Smith also told People for a recent cover story surrounding the release of her new memoir, Worthy, that there were challenging times when she grew up and spoke about their impact. "Not having [a healthy] foundation, as I would come to find out way into my adulthood, had some really strong effects in regard to how I saw myself."
However, Banfield-Norris and Pinkett Smith have since cultivated a tight-knit connection.
