2022 NAACP Image Awards: 5 Times ‘Red Table Talk’ Broke the Internet

Nothing is too big or small to discuss with the ladies of ‘Red Table Talk.’

Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk with co-host and award-winning actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and daughter Willow Smith sets no limits to the discussion the cover around the red table.

The Emmy Award-winning talk show series set the tone for their discussion-based programming with their inaugural episode. Jada sat down with husband Will Smith’s first wife, Sheree Zampion. The ladies gave viewers a candid look into their blended family, their struggles adjusting to their new family, and more.

This year, the internet-breaking series earned an award for “Outstanding News/Information – Series or Special” category—their second NAACP Image Awards win. As we reminisce on yet another amazing ceremony, check five times Red Table Talk went viral.

  • Jada and Will discuss her “entanglement”

Jada and her husband Will Smith weren’t relatively open about their personal lives until now. Still, during this now-viral episode of Red Table Talk, the veteran Hollywood couple peeled back several layers of their once intimate relationship when discussing Jada’s alleged relationship with singer August Alsina. The  r&b crooner claimed the King Richard star gave him his “blessings” to have a relationship with his wife.

Jada admitted to the relationship citing a brief separation from Will around four years prior.

“I was done with you,” Will said at the time, addressing his wife as he recalled that chapter of their union. “We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time and you go figure out how to make yourself happy, and I’ll figure out how to make myself happy.… I really felt like we could be over.”

  • Jada’s mom shuts down Olivia Jade Giannulli’s interview

Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, did not mince her words when it came to having a social media influencer Olivia—daughter of actress Lori Loughlin and designer Mossimo Giannulli—go on the show.

Olivia’s parents were just one of many at the center of a nationwide college admissions scandal that led to the young girl’s acceptance into the University of Southern California.

“I fought it tooth and nail,”  Gammy, as she’s affectionately called, told Jada and Willow before the interview. “I just found it really ironic that she chose three Black women to reach out to for her redemption story. I feel like here we are, [a] white woman coming to Black women for support when we don’t get the same from them. It’s bothersome to me on so many levels. Her being here is the epitome of white privilege to me.”

  • Jordyn Woods talks Tristan Thompson scandal

When social influencer Jordyn Woods was accused of kissing NBA player Tristan Thompson—boyfriend of Khloé Kardashian—in 2019, the model appeared on Red Table Talk to set the record straight, telling close family friend Jada that she never gave the athlete and a lap dance, but that she did kiss him with “no tongue” and “no passion” and that sex with the NBA bad boy was “never a consideration.”

  • Jada and Sheree Fletcher discuss their blended family

With three wildly creative children, Trey, Jaden, and  Willow, along with seasoned-acting parents Will and Jada, The Smiths are perhaps one of the most beloved families in Hollywood. Their support and love for one another, not just as a family but also as a blended one—Will shares Trey with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino. During the episode, Jada and Sheree reflect on how far they’ve come as a blended family of 20 years.

  • Ciara discusses healing emotional scars

Women have often praised Ciara after finding her knight in shining armor in NFL star Russell Wilson. During her appearance on the round table discussion, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter revealed how she turned her “scars” into “beauty marks” and shared her journey from pain and mistrust to her loving marriage.
