Jay Z Has Found a New Way to Cash Out

Business as usual for Hov.

Jay Z continues to expand both his empire and his creative input alike, further proving that despite his extremely successful career, he still has a lot more he’d like to accomplish. Specifically speaking, Hov has his sights set on TV and film next.

As reported, the entertainment mogul recently inked a two-year deal with the reputed Weinstein Company. As part of the deal, Jay Z will focus on helping to generate both movies and TV shows (likely in the vein of unscripted/reality programs).

"I'm excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight," Jay Z shared in a statement. "Harvey and David [Weinstein] are visionaries both of whom have done this time and time again. I'm already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline and I'm looking forward to discovering others."

According to the announcement, Hov’s new deal was negotiated by David Glasser and EVP Business and Legal Affairs Sarah Sobel on behalf of the Weinstein Company.

“Having known Jay on a personal level for many years we are thrilled by the opportunity to expand our relationship,” Weinstein offered in a statement. “Jay’s ability to influence entertainment and pop culture has gone well beyond music for many years. He approaches every aspect of his career with both determination and effortlessness, making him one of the leading power players in entertainment history. We already have some exceptional projects in the works and are excited to see what more is to come.”

With Jay Z already having a couple production credits under his belt, it’s clear his vision to expand his personal brand in the entertainment industry into TV and film has been in the works for quite some time now.
