Obama To Campaign In Nevada Amid Tight Senate Race
With the midterm elections fewer than three weeks away, the focus on Senate races in Georgia, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania is intensifying. Typically blue state, Nevada, is hosting a particularly close Senate race this election year. Former President Barack Obama will head to the Sagebrush State to campaign.
A recent USA Today-Suffolk University poll had Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto leading Republican challenger Adam Laxalt by 46 percent to 44 percent, which is still within the margin of error. Masto has been Senator since 2017. Laxalt is the former one-term attorney general of Nevada and endorsed by Trump; he is also an election denier who repeats the debunked lie that the presidency was “stolen” and somehow rife with voter fraud. These claims have been repeatedly disproven.
According to The Hill, Obama will campaign Nov. 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada, during a rally to push early voting. Residents of Nevada can vote early from Oct. 22 to Nov. 4. Obama is expected to campaign in Atlanta, Ga., on Oct. 28 and in Detroit, Mich., and Milwaukee on Oct. 29 before making his way to Nevada.
Election day is Tuesday Nov. 8.
