Bell Biv DeVoe Has a New Song (Yes, That Bell Biv DeVoe)
2016 continues to be one of the strongest comeback years for incredible musicians we’ve seen in recent years and the good news keeps pouring in.
Joining the comeback wave is none other than Bell Biv DeVoe, who today (September 12) released their first single in 15 years. Not only that, but the single also marks the first of many, with the group announcing that their fourth studio album, Three Stripes, will be out some time early in 2017.
While the group has graced the stage plenty since their last album was released in 2001, their fans have been asking for new music for well over a decade.
The trio, comprised of members Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe and Michael Bivens, released their debut album, Poison, back in 1990 and have since been credited with pioneering the “new jack swing” sound, fusing hip-hop, funk, soul and pop music. Their now-iconic single “Poison” reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to sell over four million copies.
If their new single “Run” is any indication, the group is picking up right where they left off. While the group continues to ready their new album, they also are currently working on a three-part series for BET titled The New Edition Story.
