A Washington teen was arrested in connection with the rape and death of an 18-year-old who overdosed on drugs in his presence. According to police, the suspect allegedly bragged about sexually assaulting the victim as she died and attempted to cover up her death by hacking into her cellphone. 

Lynnwood resident Brian Roberto Varela, 19, could face charges of rape, manslaughter and homicide by controlled substance, reported The Herald.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Alyssa Mae Noceda, who was a student at Mariner High School.

According to Noceda’s mother, she went to a party on Saturday in a mobile home park where Varela lived.

A man who shares a mobile home with Varela told sheriff’s deputies he saw Noceda alive after 9 p.m. Saturday. That night, Varela sent a group text to friends that read: “LOL I think she od’d, still breathing,” according to court papers.  

The text included photos of a semi-nude, unconscious young woman with swollen blue lips, court papers say.

On Sunday morning, Varela showed his roommate an unresponsive Noceda lying on his bed. Varela told the roommate she snorted a line of crushed Percocet pills, took a “dab” of liquid THC and passed out, said police.

Instead of calling police, as his roommate suggested, Varela went to work a double shift at a local Dairy Queen. While at work, Varela told another employee about the incident he’d stuffed the body into a plastic crate, according to the coworker’s story. When the coworker saw a post on Facebook from the girl’s mother which said she had been missing since Saturday, they went to the police to reported Varela on Thursday.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies went to the mobile, where they found Varela and a black plastic crate, with a young woman’s body stuffed inside.

Varela told deputies he washed the body to try to remove DNA evidence and went online to research how to get rid of a body, according to the reports.

He used Noceda’s thumb to unlock her iPhone and posted to Snapchat so people would think she had run away.

Judge Tam Bui set Varela’s bail at $500,000.
