Toni Braxton and Babyface Debut "Hurt You" Video
Toni Braxton and Babyface put their vocal chemistry to a visual with the Ray Kay-directed video for "Hurt You," the lead single off their forthcoming Love, Marriage & Divorce release.
Braxton rocks a shirt dress and heels to her producer partner's suit and sneakers look, as they croon from either side of a hotel room wall. The duo eventually break through the barrier for a face-to-face performance climaxing with the emotional hook, "God knows I never meant to hurt you."
"Hurt You" debuted at No. 17 on Billboard's Adult R&B airplay charts in August, over a month after the duets project and accompanying tour were announced.
The mother of two was pondering an early retirement from music before teaming on the new project, but respective divorces — Babyface from Tracy Edmonds and Braxton from Mint Condition keyboardist Keri Lewis — encouraged the collaboration. "I think because Babyface and I have both gone through divorce, we can relate and we can collaborate together on this topic and make it so others who have gone through this situation can relate," she said in an interview with L.A. radio station 94.7 the Wave.
Love, Marriage & Divorce is due out Nov. 25.
