Welcome to another edition of "This Week In Good Black News!” We have 10 stories from the last seven days that will, at the very least, make you smile and, at most, bring you joy. Starting with Chrisean Rock who gave birth on Instagram Live to the legendary Denzel Washington who is still setting box office records, and Coach Deion Sanders shutting down naysayers, at least for now.

  • Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion Break Out the 'Bongos' In New Video

    Fans of Cardi B are in for a huge treat as she pairs with Megan Thee Stallion for her latest song. The two have come together  again in the name of hip hop, and at midnight on Friday, September 8, the rappers released a music video for their new single, “Bongos,” a follow-up to their massive 2020 hit song “WAP.”

    Over a production of fiery Latin-inspired beats, both Cardi and MTS showcase their rap A-game. The ladies add a special sexy seasoning to the visuals, wearing a variety of bold and beautiful colored outfits, beach attire, and hair styles that accentuate their best...assets.   • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Show Their Love On Top!

    Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were just two of the many celebrities who rolled out to attend the RENAISSANCE Tour in Los Angeles! The couple were caught on camera embracing and singing along to Beyoncé's 2011 classic “Love on Top.” These two are clearly living their best lives—take that, royal haters! Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland was also shaking her groove thing and enjoying the show. Ok, Ms. Doria! We see you!

  • Dollar General Donates To Nonprofit After Mass Shooting

    In a moment of horror, Dollar General is giving back to a torn community in Jacksonville, Florida. The retail giant will donate more than $2.5 million to nonprofit organizations and other efforts to heal the traumatized city where a white supremacist fatally shot three Black people on August 26. According to a statement, Dollar General will donate $500,000 to the First Coast Relief Fund, which supports North Florida residents after natural disasters and other tragedies, as well as $1 million to nonprofits and community organizations based on input from “conversations with the local community.” Dollar General will also match donations of up to $1 million for its Employee Assistance Foundation and donate $50,000 to local food banks to help with food insecurity.

  • Chrisean Rock Gives Birth to Baby Boy On IG Live

    Reality TV star Chrisean Rock is now a mom and gave birth on Instagram Live! On September 4, Chrisean racked up over six million views when she gave birth to a baby boy she named Chrisean Malone. Blueface, her ex-boyfriend and the father of the baby, did not appear in the live stream, but family and friends were there surrounding the 23-year-old as she gave birth. Rock also received tons of love in the comments section of the video post. 

    Singer Kelly Price wrote, “Hello beautiful. @chriseanchriseanchrisean Congratulations young lady!!” Tamar Braxton also added, “Sooooooo happy for you mommie,” next to a red heart emoji. GloRilla congratulated Rock by penning, “Congrats stink.”

  • ‘The Ultimatum’ Couple Are Expecting Their First Child!

    Who says reality show couples never last? 

    On September 3, Riah Nelson and Trey Brunson, who appeared on season two of Netflix's "The Ultimatum," are expecting a child together! They each took to Instagram with separate posts of the same photo of an adorable gray onesie with matching baby booties to break the exciting news. 

    Nelson posted, “These past 5 months have been so sweet and special. From hearing your heartbeat to little flutters and kicks. We cannot wait to meet you.” Brunson added, “EVERYBODY!!! Me and @jeriahnyree are ready to welcome our baby into the world. I fell in love with our little one as soon as I found out she was pregnant.” 

    After dating for two years, Nelson and Brunson appeared on the reality show to put their relationship to the test by dating other people in “trial marriages.” They each connected with other individuals during the experiment, but Brunson realized that Nelson was the one for him and popped the big question during the finale episode.

  • Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade Launch a New Line Of Baby Hair Care Products

    Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are continuing their power couple moves. This week, they launched PROUDLY, a community-forward brand that uplifts Black and Brown babies through self-care products. On September 3, PROUDLY hair care hit Target shelves with shampoo, conditioners, and a detangler. Each hair item is produced with ingredients that cater to natural hair textures that require different moisture levels, providing clean, quality, and affordable haircare. "Our babies need scalp care too," Union said. "When we use combined bath products, it dries out our children's scalp and hair.”

  • Denzel Washington’s ‘The Equalizer 3’ Makes Box Office History

    After nearly 40 years in Hollywood, Denzel Washington is still making box office history! Over the Labor Day weekend,  according to Entertainment Weekly, "The Equalizer 3" pulled in $34.5 million from Friday to Sunday and $26.1 million internationally.  It’s a three-day global box office of $60.6 million, the second-highest opening weekend. The third installment in the “Equalizer” franchise is projected to make big numbers this coming weekend as well.

    Equalizer 3 marks the fifth film that Washington and director Antoine Fuqua have made together.

    “We’ve given it everything we have,” Fuqua told BET.com in a recent interview. “The first one was a little slicker,” he said, speaking of the franchise’s first 2014 iteration. “That was a much more external story; he was helping others. The second one [2018] is about making peace with the past, and then this one is a much more personal, internal journey. He’s going through physical and mental motions.”

  • Deion Sanders Wins Big in Colorado Coaching Debut

    Coach Deion Sanders brought it all the way home in his new role as the University of Colorado Boulder’s head football coach. On September 2, the Buffaloes pulled off a 45-42 upset against Texas Christian University’s Horned Frogs. It’s a huge win for Sanders, who had his skills questioned after the former NFL star scored a history-making contract worth nearly $30 million over five years when he moved from his role as head coach at HBCU Jackson State University. At a post-game press conference, Sanders said, "We told you we coming. You thought we was joking. And guess what? We keep receipts."

  • Happy Birthday, Idris Elba!

    On September 6, the charismatic, versatile, and forever sexy actor Idris Elba celebrated his 52nd birthday. Known for his magnetic presence on both the big and small screens, Elba has garnered critical acclaim for his roles in projects from "The Wire" to "Luther" to his captivating performances in blockbuster films like “Thor.”

Business moguls and power couple Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker will be the keynote speakers at this year’s summit. Codie Elaine Oliver, CEO of Black Love, Inc., said in a press release, "The Black Love Summit serves as a space for us to come together in community, share our stories, and strengthen the bonds that unite us.
