5 Songs to Stream By Jeezy Before Release of New Album ‘I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget’

The new album comes as the Atlanta rapper departs from Def Jam to begin his own independent venture.

Jeezy has been making many new changes in his life, and when it comes to music, he’s got some big new developments forming.

After almost two decades, the Atlanta rapper announced he’s leaving Def Jam Records while simultaneously breaking news about an independent double album arriving later this week through his CTE New World imprint.

According to Jeezy, his new LP will be titled I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget and will see a November 3 release. The project features production from ATL Jacob, Ricky Polo, Cubeatz, and Hendrix, among others, and will be executive-produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League.

I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget is Jeezy’s first LP drop since last year’s DJ Drama-hosted SNOWFALL.

In honor of Jeezy’s new album released, we thought we’d put together a list of five cuts by the rapper to get you hyped. And if Verzuz wasn’t a reminder, he certainly has some bangers over his 20-year career.

  • “Scarface” (feat. EST Gee) (2022)

We would be remiss if we didn’t include a song from Jeezy’s last album drop. And while many may go with one of the most streamed, like “I Ain’t Gone Hold Ya” or “Put The Minks Down,” “Scarface” is a little more in line with the classic Snoman acumen. Featuring EST Gee, the song has that classic Jeezy flow with D. Rich production, as this is just one of the latest collabs between the beat-maker and rapper. Earlier ones include “SupaFreak” and “All There,” among others, if you need a reminder of their excellent chemistry.

  • “Trap Or Die” (feat. Bun B) (2005)

This one’s pretty on the nose, but it’s always a bop when it comes on. While “Soul Survivor” may have been Jeezy’s commercial coming out, “Trap Or Die” was the streets’ single. Featuring fellow southern rap legend Bun B, the track is extremely important within the history of hip-hop’s trap genre, and really, who could forget the Snoman’s opening bars: “Last time I checked I was the man on these streets / They call me residue, I leave blow on these beats / Got diarrhea flow, now I s**t on n****s (chea) / Even when I'm constipated I still s**t on n****s (let's get it).”

  • "Hustlaz Ambition" (2008)

If there were ever a song that perfectly summed up Jeezy’s storytelling ability, it would be “Hustlaz Ambition.” The Recession track has that classic Snoman touch, covering everything from his “so far from the bottom” come up to reflecting on his early career success. It’s classic Jeezy that proves he’s been able to grow over the years as an artist without remaining stale.

  • “Lose My Mind” (feat. Plies) (2011)

This banger is a hit that’ll get the club going, but it also relays Jeezy’s lyrical prowess and charisma. “Lose My Mind” also showcases the Atlanta rapper’s ability to create an infectious hook over that incredible Drumma Boy beat. Reading between the bars, Jeezy provides his experiences with drugs and the violence that often comes with dealing – all capped off by the notion of determination it takes to succeed in the face of the tiniest odds. It’s really his story in a song, if you think about it.

  • “Put On” (feat. Kanye West) (2008)

If Jeezy ever had an anthem, it’d be “Put On.” The Recession song is hard-hitting, and while it may be one to represent the ATL, technically, it could reference anyone’s town. Kanye West also comes in with a standout verse that emplores the Auto-Tune he famously used on his 808s & Heartbreak album, released a few months after Jeezy’s single.
