Over the last six months, Chi-Town rapper Chief Keef has made plenty of headlines. Unfortunately, most of them were for run-ins with the law rather than music. With Bang Pt. 2, the good news is Keef is back on his music grind. But on the flip side, the "Love Sosa" rapper shows little progress from his debut as a 16-year-old freshman standout.

The intro "12 Bars" serves as the perfect preview of what's to come. Keef breathes over the beat for a minute before jumping into an unintelligible verse.

On "Bank Closed" he gets into the perks of the job, rapping, "I got 2 chains on, I got 2 thangs on me/ Shorty give me head like she got two brains on me. Can't wear these shoes no more b---h I got food stains on em'/ this say he don't like me, his b---h got who ring tone?" over a bangin' but fairly nondescript track.

"What I Wanna Do" is a much hotter beat, and one of the more fitting songs on the mix, considering Keef's hodgepodge of legal challenges, all of which make it painfully clear that he does what he wants to do.

And he continues to do it on "2 Much," a sporadic series of thoughts, such as "Gettin' guap f---in' b----es/ smoke too much, lean too much," carried by another one of the hotter beats; "Hoez N Oz;" "3;" and the nebulous "No It Don't."

By the end, Bang Pt. 2 is one of Keef's weaker efforts; and unfortunately, the mostly repetitive beats and lean-happy "Future-esque" hooks make it feel like it's actually twice as long.

The best part: the comedic relief provided by the mixtape's host, Michael Blackson.
