Dave Chappelle Enlists Erykah Badu, The Roots for Radio City Music Hall Shows
Dave Chappelle has an impressive lineup for his three-night stint at Radio City Music Hall next month. The Roots, Janelle Monáe, Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes and DJ Premier are billed to hit the stage alongside Chappelle and a full orchestra beginning June 24 though June 26, promoter Live Nation has announced.
Each night, a different act will appear with Chappelle, starting with The Roots on June 24. Bussa Buss, DJ Premier and Monáe are in line for the following night, and Badu will close things out June 26. Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster next Monday (June 2).
The trio of live shows combines Chappelle's love for music and stand-up comedy, which he fused during his sketch comedy series and in the Block Party concert documentary shot in 2004. The Radio City Music Hall shows commemorate 10 years since he and music guests like Common, Kanye West, Mos Def and Badu filmed the footage for Block Party in Brooklyn.
It's also been a decade since Chappelle played at the New York City landmark, and fans have been itching to see the reclusive funny man back in his element. In advance of the newly announced shows, Chappelle has already sold out a five-night run at Radio City Music Hall from June 18 through June 22.
