Designer dresses always catch our eye during awards show season, but at this year's Academy Awards, we couldn't look away from the best tresses on the red carpet.
We absolutely love when Black girl magic is expressed through the versatility of our hair. At the 2019 Oscars, our favorite stars showed out with their best braids, bobs and bundles! Whether they were debuting a new look or keeping it sophisticated with a sleek, pulled back look, these celebrities did not disappoint.
Check Out All Our Favorite Hairstyles From The 2019 Academy Awards:
Amandla Stenberg
This hairstyle deserves its own award for the night! The Hate U Give star Amandla Stenberg turned heads with this cornrow hairstyle that mimicked finger waves by braid guru Vernon François.
Vernon says that this bold, braided look took around two hours to construct and was inspired by Amandla's 1920s flapper style gown by Miu Miu. The pair decided they wanted a modern take on the classic '20s hairstyle, and it totally works!
Serena Williams
We can always expect Serena Williams to slay on and off the court! Serena's stylist Nai'vasha Johnson used Dove hair care products to achieve this sexy, sleek ponytail. Nai'vasha says she was inspired by the Giorgio Armani sketch of Serena's dress and wanted to highlight both Serena's hair texture and her exquisite bone structure.
Letitia Wright
We always love a good pixie cut, but Letitia Wright's might just be our absolute favorite! For this rising star's slicked-back red carpet look, hairstylist Ursula Stephen adorned Letitia's pixie with pearl pins that were just as mesmerizing as her delicate gown.

Ruth E. Carter became the first African-American woman to win an Oscar for Best Costume Design for Black Panther and looked flawless while doing it! The costume designer wore her natural curly hair in a straight, fishtail braided updo that we still cannot get over.
