Report: Fans Allegedly Walk Out in Anger Following Dave Chappelle’s Remarks on Israel
Once again, Dave Chappelle finds himself under scrutiny, this time for expressing his opinions on Israel's bombing of Gaza and ongoing conflict with Hamas terrorists, during a show last Thursday (Oct.19 ) at TD Garden in Boston, MA.
According to The Wall Street Journal, citing attendees, the incident transpired after the comedian condemned students losing their jobs for showing support to Palestinians. His comments come after an NYC law firm, Davis Polk & Wardwell, rescinded letters of employment for three law students at Harvard and Columbia after they signed a letter supporting Hamas.
Someone in the crowd reportedly told Chappelle to "shut up," but he did not move on from the matter. The 50-year-old star criticized the Israeli government for cutting off water and other essentials to the residents of Gaza.
The “8:46” star also condemned Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack against Israel that claimed the lives of over 1000 Israelis but allegedly accused the U.S. of assisting in the genocide of innocent civilians.
A wave of mixed reactions flowed throughout the arena. While many reportedly cheered “Free Palestine,” others yelled, “What about Hamas,” attendees told the outlet. Soon after, several people got up and left.
Interestingly, a spokesperson for the star told the WSJ that he "denies being in Boston" for the event, even though there were no mentions of its cancellation.
