This NBA Player Went All Grand Theft Auto in a Stolen Mercedes
Jeff Adrien might have played too much Grand Theft Auto in his day.
The former NBA player brought the video game to life when he arrested for grand theft auto in Los Angeles for jacking a Mercedes-Benz from a valet and taking it on a six-hour joyride.
According to TMZ Sports, the 29-year-old was waiting outside of a West Hollywood hotel when he saw a Mercedes being valeted. Police tell the celebrity news website that Adrien somehow got hold of the keys and took off with the car, going on a six-hour joyride before returning it to the hotel.
The valet service figured out what happened and informed the vehicle's owner, which led to Adrien being arrested for grand theft auto and being locked up in jail. TMZ says that he was later released on $25,000 bail.
The Mercedes's owner also told TMZ the former NBA player damaged his car and brought it back to the valet reeking of marijuana.
What was he thinking?
After being a key player for UConn, Adrien played five years in the NBA from 2010-15, most recently for the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, before taking his career overseas to China.
