Ariana Grande Brings Back MTV's TRL for New Song 'Break Free'

The singer hosted Total Ariana Live, reviving Total Request Live for one night only to drop her latest track.

After spending weeks at the top of the Billboard charts with her Iggy Azalea-assisted song, "Problem," Ariana Grande is back with another single in a major way.

The former Broadway and Nickelodeon star flexes her vocals on "Break Free," featuring electro-producer/DJ Zedd, and released the dance/pop-inspired track in Total Request Live-style, as she teamed up with MTV to revive the popular format for a one-night-only special, TAL or Total Ariana Live, on Wednesday (July 2).

The show, dedicated to true Grande fans, was action packed with an exclusive social media Q&A and surprise announcements. Ariana, who is known to cover her favorite rap songs such as Big Sean's "Guap," also performed a uncensored version of A$AP Rocky's "Problems."

Grande, who has been compared to the likes of Mariah Carey for her extensive vocal range, which goes all the way to E7, is only 20 years old but is quickly becoming one of the major players in pop music.

In addition to dropping "Break Free," the second single off her forthcoming sophomore album, My Everything, is due to be released on August 25. Grande also shared with her TAL audience she will be performing "Break Free" live at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on August 24.

Iggy Azalea, Big Sean, A$AP Ferg, Childish Gambino and The Weeknd are all set to be featured on My Everything.
