Jim Jones Calls To End Violence In The Hip-Hop Community
Jim Jones is calling to end violence in the Hip Hop community during his interview with XXL, who asked him to finish a sentence in an interactive game.
The phrase was “One thing Hip Hop needs to change is..” with the rapper finishing the sentence by saying, “stopping all the violence.”
In an interview with HipHopDX earlier this year, the hip-hop veteran told the publication he supports the beliefj with his views on the violence in the hip-hop world.
“I stand on it,” Jones told the outlet.
“We have more rappers getting killed than we have weeks in the year. Shit, my prayers go out to Lil Tjay, who just got shot up the other day and I don’t even know his condition, but it’s terrible out there. Every day they talk about a different rapper that just got shot or was involved in a shooting or something like that. So yeah, I stand on what I said. Being a rapper in today’s society is the most dangerous job in the world. You have a 50 percent chance of making it as a rapper and making it alive as a rapper is what it means. It’s one-for-one, so you take that how you want.
Salt from Salt-N-Pepa also shared her sentiments on the violence in the hip-hop community.
“I think the pioneers need to come together on one accord and take the young artists under our wing,” Salt expressed.
“We need to speak out and not be afraid to talk about the violence and how it’s affecting our community. At one point, it was one incident with Biggie and Tupac — 25 years later, you can count all the rappers being murdered, and it has to stop. Whatever we can do as auntie and godmothers [laughs] to help the young people pull it together, it needs to be a change in the message in the music — especially when it comes to murder music because it’s manifesting for real.”
