Exclusive: Da Brat and Jesseca ‘Judy’ Harris-Dupart Dish on Careers, Personal Lives, and The Joys of Motherhood

The couple share intimate moments from their parenting journey in "Brat Loves Judy: The Baby Special," set to premiere tonight.

Fans of the series "Brat Loves Judy" are in for a treat as Da Brat and Jesseca "Judy" Harris-Dupart will share their journey of welcoming their son True Legend in a new special.

In the five-part lineup, the "Brat Loves Judy: The Baby Special," the couple, known for their lively personalities and dynamic relationship, will share their unique and relatable experiences as they navigate the adventures of raising their son.

In an exclusive interview with BET, the couple opened up about their journey of unexpected joys, challenges, and revelations.

"The most unexpected aspect? I, I don't know. I didn't really expect any of it, so it's all like new to me," chuckled Da Brat as she reflected on motherhood. From unexpected diaper incidents to overwhelming love, the couple shared a laughter-filled perspective on the unexpected twists of parenting.

Harris-Dupart, already a mom of three, added, "This time around is just different for me. I had children as a teenager, so it's different. I'm able to do things slower, focus on things, and I get to be in the moment."

The Kaleidoscope CEO emphasized their co-parenting dynamic. "From day one, we did everything together. So we changed 'em together, we fed 'em together," she shared.

The duo seamlessly adapted to co-parenting, showcasing the resilience of a unified approach to raising their child, especially when navigating the challenges of returning to work.

Da Brat reflected on the revelations about herself and her relationship with Judy. "She's an amazing mother. Because you can't get it perfect. Nobody's perfect. You just kind of do the best that you can," she acknowledged. The couple also emphasized the joy of sharing parenting duties, from changing diapers to entertaining their son.

The couple candidly discussed the challenges of balancing careers, personal life, and mommyhood. "I heard a quote that said, 'Sometimes you have to show up as a mom more and actually be missing in your career. Sometimes you have to show up at your career more and kind of be missing as a mom,'" Harris-Dupart continued. "Mommying in 2023 looks different than back in the day."

The rapper humorously added that they haven't joined "team gentle parenting" yet, opting for a middle ground that combines patience with a touch of discipline.

Brat and Harris-Dupart revealed that the series is a way for them to create something special for their son—a storybook-like experience that he could look back on with joy and nostalgia, so each episode is essentially a love letter to him.

"We thought why not do something super cute like a baby special where we tell a story to him where he can look back and be like, 'oh my God, is that how it happened?' And he can just show his friends and just be like, really excited that we did something special like this for him," said Da Brat.

Harris-Dupart also wants to pass on some of her traditions to True Legend as she did with her other kids, "All the great things that I remember from my childhood, I try to share with my children. This is his first Christmas, and he might not understand [everything] going on, but he gonna see a whole bunch of lights."

"Brat Loves Judy: The Baby Special" premieres tonight Thursday (Nov. 30) at 9 pm ET on WE tv.
