Look: Michael Jordan Puts Some Respek on Derek Jeter's Name
Who could forget the iconic 2014 Jordan Brand ad, in which the likes of Jay Z, Spike Lee and Michael Jordan himself all paid homage to Derek Jeter retiring from Major League Baseball after 20 years?
Well, two years later and MJ continues to put some respek on Jeter's name. Days after he married model Hannah Davis in California, Jeter has been named the Captain of Jordan Brand's Re2pect line, overseeing the training division and baseball players endorsed by MJ.
Under the agreement, Jordan Brand will also continue putting out Re2pect training and lifestyle shoes and apparel, beginning to impact retail next spring. Yeah, we'd call that a home run.
So would Derek and MJ.
“Derek is one of the hardest workers I have ever met,” Jordan said in a press release statement Tuesday, as reported by The Undefeated. “His work ethic was evident in the way he played the game of baseball and it continues to drive the way he approaches his business career after retirement. We are excited to continue our relationship with him and for what he brings to the brand as we continue to grow.”
And the respek on Jeter's name just continues to grow. All that's left is an imminent Baseball Hall of Fame induction.
