Bill O'Reilly's Ex-Wife Says He Dragged Her Down a Flight of Stairs by the Neck When She Caught Him Having Phone Sex
Excerpts from a 2011 affidavit wherein the ex-wife of former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly alleged a night of domestic abuse were recently obtained and released by Jezebel. In the record, Maureen McPhilmy claimed O'Reilly “flew into a fit of rage” one evening in 2009 when she walked in on him having phone sex.
According to the affadavit, McPhilmy, who married O'Reilly in 1996, said she caught the former host in their Long Island home with his pants off, engaging in phone sex.
What allegedly happened next was nothing short of a horrific series of domestic violence.
McPhilmy alleged O'Reilly threw her against a wall so aggressively a large hole was left. He then grabbed her by the shoulders and neck, and dragged her downstairs, according to the affidavit. She said O’Reilly only stopped when he noticed a security guard could see.
When the security guard asked McPhilmy if she wanted to press charges, she declined.
This account coincides with an account during the couple's 2014 divorce proceedings wherein their daughter told a court official she saw her father "choke" her mother.
In 2015, O'Reilly released a statement refuting the abuse claims.
“All allegations against me in these circumstances are 100% false. I am going to respect the court-mandated confidentiality put in place to protect my children and will not comment any further," O'Reilly said in response to a report by Gawker.
Last year, McPhilmy was awarded predominate custody of the couple’s children and was eventually sued by O’Reilly on the basis that she “made false misrepresentations and material omissions” in order to obtain “a consensual divorce and to obtain money and real property to finance an existing extra-marital relationship.”
