5 Things You Didn't Know About Meg Thee Stallion
Meg Thee Stallion is arguably the hottest hip hop artist out.
At the BET Hip Hop Awards 2020, the 26-year-old took home three trophies, including Hip Hop Artist of the Year — a feat only two women have done in the past three years.
Along with success, the Houston native has had her fair amount of media attention as well — both good and bad. From who she’s dating (Pardi Fontaine) to where she’s signed, Meg’s life is constantly under the scope.
Ahead of the BET Hip Hop Awards 2021, we’re going to take a look at what people may not know about the “Hot Girl Summer” rapper.
She Has An Old Love & Hip Hop Audition Tape
It’s hard to reimagine Meg Thee Stallion’s career trajectory given all the success she’s had. She coined the mantra, “hot girl summer” and won a couple of Grammy’s — it’s a script that writes itself.
But did you know that she was close to being on a season of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop? VH1 shared a snippet of her audition tape on Instagram back in January, where you can see her confidently telling the camera why she deserves to be cast and professing that she will be a household name.
Looks like she was right.
She Has a Famous French Bulldog
Foe Thee Frenchie is Meg Thee Stallion’s French bulldog, who, if you can believe it or not, has 529K followers and email if you want to send an inquiry.
The adorable squishy-faced gray companion is known for his shady looks and sassy attitude. Meg also has a newer pup, Dos, who is just as adorable.
Wrote An Op-Ed In The New York Times
Not too many rappers can say that they've had an essay published in the New York Times. Last year, Meg's “Why I Speak Up For Black Women” was full transparency as she wrote about a myriad of complicated topics, like the mistreatment of Black women in America, as well as their importance to the 2020 Presidential election, and her Saturday Night Live performance honoring Breonna Taylor.

Is A Pimp C Disciple
If we know anything about Meg Thee Stallion, it’s that she’s proudly from Houston. Besides how frequently she speaks of her hometown, did you know the Houston, Texas influence goes deeper? Pimp C, a Houston legend and one-half of UGK, is a huge influence on her, down to her name.
According to RollingStone, she has considered Pimp C and his 2006 solo album, Pimpalation, an influence since her childhood. Likewise, “Tina Snow", one of her alter egos and the name of her debut EP was influenced by Pimp C's alias Tony Snow, who has similar confidence and curiosity for sexual adventure.
Trademarked ‘Hot Girl Summer’
At this point, it’s hard to remember when it wasn’t a “hot girl summer”.
The phrase, brilliantly coined by Megan, has become a beckoning call to those who are ready to be the best versions of themselves come summertime and it’s stuck.
So much so, Megan and her team decided to get the phrase trademarked.
The “WAP” rapper later confirmed that the trademark went through in an Allure interview. In the same piece, she touched on the entire experience, explaining she did not expect it to take off as it did.
“When I saw Wendy’s and Forever 21 saying, 'Hey, are you having a Hot Girl Summer?' I was like, 'Hell no, Forever 21, you’re going to have to pay me,'" she explained to the magazine.
The trademark will cover merchandise for products like hoodies, t-shirts, and sportswear.
