50 Cent: Jay Z Is Overrated
50 Cent gave Andy Cohen a bunch of sound bites when he stopped by Bravo's Watch What Happens Live Wednesday (July 19) night. Fif hit up Cohen's "club house" and talked about Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and Beyoncé's breath for a portion of the 30-minute live show.
His honesty session was for Cohen's "Plead the Fifth" segment, where a guest is allowed to pick one question out of three not to answer. The 38-year-old chose not to plead the fifth, answering every question, starting with how it felt when Queen Bey yelled at him once. "It's not really bad, like her breath doesn't smell," he said. "But it's one of those things, like the paparazzi were taking pictures of us at the same time, so there's not really a right way to respond, right? You've just got to accept it. You've just got to have an expression on your face like, 'What the f--k is the matter with you?'
Then he threw in a quip about the "elevatorgate" incident between Solange and Jay. "It's like if you're in an elevator and you're attacked, you can't do nothing," he joked.
If the Solange comment wasn't enough to start some trouble with the Carters, his next statement maybe sealed the deal. After he denied ever dating Kardashian, the G-Unit founder was asked to name the "most overrated" person in hip hop. It didn't take him long to respond. "Jay Z," he replied. "He would say he's overrated …'rather be overrated than underpaid," Fif added, referencing Jigga's line from Kanye West's "So Appalled."
No matter how the "Smoke" rapper feels about Hov, however, consumers are still very much interested in Brooklyn's Finest. Jay's last album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, sold 528,000 copies in its first week in addition to the 1 million digital copies released free to Samsung customers.
By comparison, Fif's new independent release, Animal Ambition, his first since he no longer has major label-backing, moved less than 50,000 copies in its first week.
