The award-winning hit morning show, The Breakfast Club starring DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God, is coming over to BET. In a new partnership with iHeartMedia, the radio series, which gave the audience some of the best moments in hip-hop culture will premiere on April 17th at 9 am ET on BET.
For over a decade, Charlemagne and DJ Envy have been involved in some of the most hilarious and chaotic interviews featuring several of the biggest names in the entertainment business. And in honor of the awesome new additions to the BET family, we’re looking back at some of the most iconic guest moments that have taken place on the world’s most dangerous morning show.
Kodak Black
Date: 2017
The hosts over at the Breakfast Club gave Florida-based rapper Kodak Black a warm welcome during a 2017 appearance on the show by sporting the “ZEZE” emcee’s signature face mask.
The group talked about several topics, including the rapper’s dating life, where he spoke about a potential love interest. When asked if he thought the relationship would blossom into something serious, Kodak blessed viewers with the funniest reply and subsequently a new meme.
Charlamagne labels Kanye West “Donkey of the Day”
Date: 2018
Unlike our other moment, this particular incident between Charlemagne and Kanye West took place after the interview ended.
In 2018, Charlamagne labeled the Grammy Award-winning emcee “Donkey of the Day” after the rapper made some concerning remarks about slavery and was spotted wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat, giving his support to far-right media personalities, including former President Donald Trump.
Sadly, it wouldn't be West's only time receiving the title.
Monique checks “Lenard”
Date: October 2020
Academy Award-winning actress and comedian Monique did not mince her words when she confronted Lenard, better known as Charlamagne after he named her “Donkey of the Day” amid her Netflix boycott.
The veteran Hollywood star stopped by to discuss her complex reputation in the industry. However, the interview soon turned into a back-and-forth between Monique and Charlamagne over the radio personality’s treatment of people in his own community.

Soulja Boys blesses the internet with “Draaaake” meme
Date: January 2019
No rapper was safe from Soulja Boy’s rant during his January 2019 appearance on The Breakfast Club where he boldly claimed he taught Grammy Award-winning rap star Drake “everything” he knows.
“Draaaake” the emcee let out in disbelief over Drake’s musical popularity.
Soulja Boy also alleged that the Canada-born emcee stole his flow on his single “Miss Me” from his critically acclaimed No. 1 debut studio Thank Me Later.
"Stop playing with me like I didn’t teach Drake everything he knows,” the “Crank That” emcee told Charlamagane. “You didn’t hear Drake on his first song – [singing] ‘Tell me what’s really going on / Drizzy Drake back in this thing / I’m ready / What’s happenin’?"
Birdman demands “Respek”
Date: April 2016
This vintage Breakfast Club interview may be considered one of the most chaotic events in the show’s history.
Birdman demanded that the hosts "Put some respek on my name” before suggesting that matters could get gangster, to which Charlemagne replied, "Did you pull up on [Rick] Ross that way, or Trick Daddy?"
The hip-hop legend was almost instantly trolled online and quickly received the meme—and merch—treatment.
