Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz have been fast friends from the jump, releasing their first collaborative track in 2007 with “Duffle Bag Boyz."

Nine years later, against all odds, their bond (and music) is still as strong as ever, with the two releasing a joint album, Collegrove, back in March.

Having a co-sign from Wayne early on in his career helped 2 Chainz reach the level of success he has seen since breaking out onto the scene as a solo artist and disbanding from Playaz Circle.

2 Chainz shows his gratitude for Weezy on the first track of their new album, a song aptly named “Dedication.”

“If it wasn’t for Wayne there wouldn’t be a lot of dudes in the game, including me,” 2 Chainz opens up the track.

Creating such a big anthem to honor someone who has both influenced and inspired you for almost a decade is no easy task, and the two sat down with Rob Markman at Genius to talk about Wayne’s emotional reaction to the song. When there are real tears involved, that’s love.
