DC Young Fly Talks About Devastating Loss Of Long-Time Partner Ms. Jacky Oh
DC Young Fly is opening up about losing his long-time love, Ms. Jacky Oh after she suddenly died earlier this year.
During an appearance on the "Tamron Hall" show on Tuesday (Dec. 5), the comedian discussed how Jacky Oh's passing has affected his life and how he is using his faith to cope.
"Nothing could have prepared me instead of past trauma and knowing that he [God] helped me through those traumas," said DC Young Fly. When the "queen" of his children died, it was a familiarity he had already experienced multiple times. Before the "Wild n' Out" star died, the comedian's cousin tragically lost her life to gun violence as "an innocent bystander."
"I wouldn't wish this on nobody," he said of Jacky Oh's death. "It's hard. Every day feels like a dream," while adding, "You have to snap into reality."
In May, the TV personality died from cosmetic surgery complications. Her death was later declared an accident by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner, as reported by PEOPLE. The doctor did not face any charges.
From her passing, the "Candy Cane Lane" star said he has "learned we don't control nothing that goes on in our life." Now, he is relying on his Christian faith.
“Prayer is a powerful thing,” he said.
"I've been through so much loss. I'm numb to death because I'm used to it, since 16," he explained. "So with every death, there is a different reaction. With my cousin, I was angry. When my father died, I was at peace. When my best friend died, I was confused. When my girl [Jacky Oh] died, I'm shocked."
"This not only affects me. This affects my children."
DC Young Fly and Jacky Oh share three kids: daughters Nova and Nala and their son Prince.
The doting father said this moment is achingly painful for him due to his "private" nature outside of showbiz. "I really don't want ya'll in my business," he quipped while suggesting he intends to use this moment to help others struggling with loss.
Still, he has been able to reach a silver lining amid tragedy.
"I lost my girl, but I gained her three times," he said.
