Prayers Up: Bay Area Legend And Prince’s DJ Pam The Funkstress Hospitalized In Critical Condition
Pam Warren, better known as DJ Pam The Funkstress, has reportedly been hospitalized and is said to be listed in critical condition.
Bay Area rapper, Daveed Diggs confirmed the heartbreaking news on Twitter writing, “Please send all your love and good energy out to Pam The Funkstress who in the hospital in critical condition.” Highlighting Pam’s contribution to the Bay Area rap scene he added, “She is a Bay Area legend who has always loved and supported young artists. We love you Pam.”
Pam the Funkstress got her start as a member of the Oakland group, The Coup, she lended her talents to singles including: “Kill My Landlord” and “Pick a Bigger Weapon.” Warren’s dynamic skills as the self-proclaim Turntable Queen caught the attention of music legend Prince, who hired her to be the official DJ on what would be his final tour in 2016.
The Coup member Boots Riley also took to social media addressing Pam The Funkstress’ medical woes writing, “Pam The Funkstress is in ICU, fighting for her life. She’s a stubborn, strong, and a fighter- but could use your thoughts, love, and well wishes in any way you see fit. Her family will show her this post. It will energize her.”
Before falling ill, Pam The Funkstress was gearing up to celebrate her birthday with a lavish purple themed party on November 17.
