Usher Is Certain He’s ‘The King of R&B’
Usher is crowning himself as ‘The King of R&B’ and rightfully so!
While appearing on SiriusXM and Radio Andy’s “Bevelations” hosted by Bevy Smith, the eight-time Grammy award-winning artist gave himself his own flowers for his decades-long career and contributions to the music industry.
“King, whatever you wanna call it,” he said. “Yeah, I’ve been working to the point where I do own that, and I do deserve that.”
Adding, “And I ain’t gonna ask for it no more. You’re gonna give it. Because I did work for it.”
The entertainer also chimed in on Diddy’s previously posed question “Is R&B Dead?”
“He sounds nuts to me. It sounds crazy,” he said of the Bad Boy Records founder. “Especially knowing he was a pioneer and understanding and beneficiary of it.”

Usher went on to explain that the root of R&B is Hip Hop.
“There would be no Hip Hop if there was no R&B,” he continued. “It’s blasphemous to hear people say anything, especially Hip Hop cats, to say anything about R&B. It’s been there. It’s gonna stay there as long as you exist.”
Also adding, “R&B is timeless, it ain’t gonna go away.”
With four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, 9 Number One songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and 13 Number One songs on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the entertainer deserves all the praise. Usher has scored eight Grammy Awards with 22 nominations and has released eight studio albums.
His album Confessions went RIAA certified Diamond and his hit “My Way,” has gone 6x-Platinum, with his track “8701” going 4x-Platinum “My Boo” hitting 3x-Platinum.
