Last week, Solo was in New York for a celebration ceremony where she accepted the nonprofit Town Hall’s inaugural Lena Horne Prize for Artists Creating Social Impact. Rumors of a romance between her and Common took off online after the two were both seen at the event. ICYMI: Solange has been single following her announcement that she and her husband, Alan Ferguson, separated in November of 2019. 

According to Rap-Up, speculation arose after a photoshopped image that depicted Common as her date at the event circulated around social media. The Chicago rapper and actor was one of the celebrities in attendance and also spoke at the event, per ESSENCE. However, him and Solange did not come as an item.

As the rumors began to gain steam on social media, Solange took to her Instagram Stories where she shared a cryptic message that appeared to address the speculation. She posted a screenshots of David G’s 2009 track, “Lying On Me,” and content creator Nicholas Fraser’s viral 2015 parody remix, “Why You Always Lying,” which was reshared by The Jasmine Brand.

Furthermore, her representative issued a statement to SOHH shutting down the rumors. “Solange and Common are not seeing each other. Both artists attended the Lena Horne Prize event simply to honor Lena Horne’s Legacy,” the letter read.
