‘Zatima’: Family Feuds, Frozen Assets, and Flashbacks

Between confronting financial betrayals and grappling with a dying mother, Zac's world unravels as quickly as it mends — all culminating in a twist you won't see coming in this week’s episode of ‘Zatima.’

A lot is going on regarding Zatima, but we knew that already.  Zac’s mom is on the brink of death, and Zac and his brother aren’t on the same page about whether they should take her off life support. There’s also the matter of Zac’s and Bryce’s assets being frozen. The only good, or possibly good, news is that it’s looking like Zac and Fatima are back together. Let’s get into this season finale.

Zatima's Dinner with a Side of Drama: Relationship Lessons, Ex-Spouses, and a Concerning Revelation Unfold

We pick up the episode when Bryce and Angela tell Zac he’s broke. Zac calls the bank to sort things out and learns that the accounts aren’t frozen; they’re overdrawn. It turns out Bryce made a deal behind Zac’s back. A deal that Zac explicitly said he didn’t want to make because they didn’t have enough money. Bryce then says that Gary was supposed to deposit the money. Yes, that Gary, Andi’s Gary, that no one should be doing business with. Gary said he decided to pull out of the deal but didn’t say anything.

However, Bryce eventually fixes the situation by borrowing the money from his pops. Crisis averted.

Fatima confirms that she’s back into the chaos that comes with Zac by helping him with his affairs. She ends up trying to reason with Jeremiah about the fact that their mother is gone and the plug needs to be pulled, and it’s a surprisingly productive conversation. Jeremiah even apologizes for his previous hostility toward her. She then convinces Zac to have a heart-to-heart with his brother. Zac says he’ll think about it, but he’s forced to act much sooner because he gets a call that his mom went into cardiac arrest and probably won’t make it through the night. She’s dead by the time Zac gets to the hospital. This brings Zac and his brother together. They talk to each other civilly in their grief.

Zac also makes peace with his mother and goes to her house for a box Jeremiah said he needed to see. The box contains a VHS, a memory device from the late 1900s. They track down a VCR at Fatima’s office so they can watch the tape, and it’s a video of Zac and Jeremiah as kids with their mom. She was playing with them and acting like a typical mom. Zac says he doesn’t remember any of it, but in the video, their mother tells them she loves them, but she has to leave (probably for drugs) and hopes they don’t hate her when they get older. She had her faults, but Zac got proof that she did love him despite her antics. We close with Zac, saying he hopes to fix her parenting mistakes by being a good father to his kids. And then Fatima makes the big reveal. Surprise, she’s pregnant! Wait until Karen finds out.
